Strategy instead of luck As mentioned elsewhere on my website: I want there to be more games where the best player wins. Not the one with the most luck. Mirrorwall is a good example in that regard. Although you determine your actions with cards that are drawn randomly, the affect luck has on it is minimal. Every card is useful and you can swap out cards in many ways. As a result, the strategic level remains high – not as high as chess, perhaps, but high enough to make the comparison.
Endless variation The thing that makes Mirrorwall truly special, is the incredible replayability. The game can be played by 2, 3 or 4 players, and each has their own unique elements.
- With two players there are portals added to the game.
- With 3 players part of the board can be moved around.
- With 4 players, not only do you have portals, you play two against two.
The modular board (two sides, separate parts and additional pieces) allows even more variation. You're never finished playing.
The goal Destroy your opponents' villages before your own villages are set aflame.
Summarized gameplay
As a player, you have your own territory where you build fireball towers and mirrors. Fireball towers deal damage (heat, expressed in cubes) to your opponents’ villages, which are visible at the edge of the board, by launching fireballs that fly in a straight line. Mirrors change the direction of fireballs. They can be used defensively as well as offensively. Clever use of mirrors makes the difference between a beginner and an experienced player.
Upcoming crowdfunding
Compared to my previous games: Vak! and Autocards Mirrorwalls is far bigger and more complex. Therefore the production costs will be far higher. For this reason I am working on a crowdfunding which is planned in November 2027. Do you want to be a part of the pre-crowdfunding? Then click here.
